Using a holistic approach to the whole business Asquith take on some principles from yoga as a guide to running the company and teams this with an ambition to make beautiful and wearable active clothing for women - that is good for the environment too.

Alice Asquith founded the company in 2002 and is the creative director. She combined her love of design and materials with her other passion for yoga and pilates to bring about a brand that prides itself on producing gorgeous active wear garments that are durable and versatile to suit our modern lifestyle. Clothing design and a passion for fabric has been in Alice's family for many generations as her mother, grandmother and great-grandmother all created their own clothing.

The foundations to Asquith's business are based on Yoga principles called Yamas. They believe in Ahimsa which is a compassion for all living things and they follow this by using ethical, chemical free and sustainable fabrics as well as supporting organic production. The employees in the small factories that make Asquith clothing get paid holidays and have a max 45hr week in good working environment. Any packaging used is recycled where possible and Asquith make sure that nothing is tested on animals or contains animal products.

Asquith yoga clothing is very durable and hard wearing which means it will last longer and is better for the environment. Its better to buy quality that lasts than buy cheap and often. Part of the design of the Asquith active wear is to be functional but not too sporty. The cut of the fabric flatters in the right places while allowing for movement and the fibres have a four way stretch. The materials used in Asquith clothing include organic cotton, bamboo and viscose marl which have great properties including being moisture wicking, breathable and naturally anti-bacterial.
